This compact lead pointer for 2 mm leads features high-quality tempered steel blades, two lead point options, a removable top for easy cleaning, and a cleaning pad for wiping graphite dust off of the sharpened leads. Two replacement cleaning pads are included. To use: Extend the lead at least 1.3 cm (0.5 inches). Insert the lead into one of the two sizing holes, depending on whether you want a longer point (the hole with the narrow triangle mark) or a shorter point (the hole with the wide triangle mark). Retract the lead until the tip of the lead holder is touching the lip of the sizing hole. Insert the lead holder into the large hole as far down as it will go. Holding the gray body of the sharpener in one hand and the lead holder in the other, turn the lead holder so that the black cap of the sharpener rotates. Once the lead is fully sharpened, insert the tip into the white cleaning pad to clean off any graphite dust on the tip of the lead. Note: To fit in the sharpener, lead holders must be no more than 8.5 mm wide at any point within 3.2 cm (1.26 inches) of the tip.
