Succulents grow best in plenty of light: a sunny windowsill would be the ideal spot for them to thrive!
Like most low-maintenance plants, these guys do not like to sit in water, so allow to drain completely and remove the water from saucers or containers.
Water succulents from below by soaking the pot and allowing it to drain. This avoids getting their leaves wet, which can cause them to rot. Wait unti the soil is completely dry before further watering, which generally translates as once every 4-5 days in the spring and summer and once every 10-14 days in the autumn and winter.
This mix of succulents will not cause any harm to dogs, cats and humans.
Our Aloe Vera is available in two sizes:
Plant height (including pot): 20-30cm; Nursery pot width: 12cm
Plant height (including pot): 60-70cm; Nursery pot width: 21cm
Franky will be happiest in a bright spot with lots of indirect light.
Franky doesn't like being overwatered so go easy on him (see 'Watering and feeding').
A big body of research has proven the multitude of benefits of Franky. Not only does he help relieve common sun and kitchen burns when rubbed on the skin, he has also been approved by NASA as one of the best air-purifiers to help remove pollutants from the air.
Unlike other indoor plants, Franky will keep water in his leaves, rather than the soil until he needs it so go easy on the watering. Whilst you want to give him a good water, allow the top inch of soil to dry out before you think about watering him again - this will be about every 7-14 days.
Franky is toxic to pets and children if consumed.
Our Pennys come in two sizes:
Plant height (including pot): 5-10cm; Nursery pot width 5.5cm
Plant height (including pot): 15-25cm; Nursery pot width: 12cm
Penny thrives in bright indirect light and well-drained soil.
Penny doesn't like direct sunlight, as it scorches her leaves.
Penny likes to dry out a little between waterings so be careful not to over water. Once a week during Winter and twice a week during Summer should be fine. If her leaves start drooping, she's thirsty! She appreciates a liquid fertiliser being applied once every month in the spring and summer to promote growth.
Penny is non-toxic.
Our Sharons come in three sizes:
Plant height: 40-50cm; Pot width: 12cm
Plant height: 50-60cm; Pot width: 17cm
Plant height: 90-100cm; Pot width: 20cm
(All plant heights are measured from the base of the pot)
The Chamaedorea is a slow grower but can rise up to 80cm within a few years, if well looked after.
Sharon the Chamaedorea loves bright but filtered light and a humid atmosphere. She can withstand a darker spot too.
Sharon does not like direct light as harsh sun will scorch her leaves.
The Chamaedorea made it on to the NASA's list of 50 indoor plants that clean the air.
Very little water is needed in Winter to keep our Chamaedorea happy: allow the top of the soil to dry out before watering again. In summer, make sure to keep the soil moist at all times. Feeding Sharon every couple of months with a liquid fertiliser will be more than enough.
Our Chamaedorea is non-toxic to dogs, cats - and humans!
Current height including plastic pot: 60-70cm; Pot width: 17cm
Kept in its current pot, he shouldn't grow much more than 20cm taller. This growth will be directly upwards so it's a good one for narrow spaces.
Happy in almost any light condition, but he'll grow best if in bright light.
This plant is practically indesctructible, unless it has been overwatered.
NASA recommended this plant in its famous clean air study for its natural capacity to remove toxins from its immediate environment. And, while most plants take away oxygen at night, this one gives it off during night hours, making it perfect for the bedroom.
During spring and summer months, keep the plant's soil moist, but not wet, about once every 10-14 days. Over winter, allow it to dry out completely before watering moderately. As a general rule, this means once a month or so.
If ingested, can cause upset stomach among dogs and cats so best to keep it out of their reach.
