BuffOff™ removes spray paint and buff paint, tags, markers, a variety of acrylics and fire extinguisher paint splashes. When used on murals protected with MuralColors™ Preservation System, BuffOff™ gives artists and building owners the ability to repair their murals without repainting or recoating. BuffOff is a gel, which allows the user to control where the remover is applied without drips.

Use BuffOff on murals that are protected with OverCoat and the MuralColors Preservation System. Works on uncoated murals as well.

How to Use: Make sure the surface of the tag or unwanted graffiti is dry. Before starting, you will need 1) A bucket with water, 2) gloves and goggles, 3) several rags for wetting and drying, 4) a disposable chip brush or similar stiff bristle brush, and 5) BuffOff.

Apply BuffOff with a chip brush and allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes. In hot weather, you may need to apply additional BuffOff to keep it from drying. BuffOff will begin to swell the unwanted graffiti. The surface is ready to wash once you can visibly see the paint curl away from the wall. This will look gelatinous and visibly wrinkled. Use either a wet sponge, wet rag or water hose to wash away the lifted graffiti. Agitation with a wet brush will also help lift the unwanted paint particles. Make sure to remove the dissolved paint entirely and to not reuse soiled rags as the dissolved paint might transfer back onto the wall.

If any graffiti tags still remain, dry the wall, and repeat the application. Neutralize solvent with water.

Repairing Larger Areas: Larger tags can be removed by applying BuffOff with rollers or hand pump sprayers. Allow BuffOff to sit for an extended period until the unwanted graffiti or tag begins to curl away from the wall. Use a pressure washer with a 60º Tip at low-to-medium pressure to gently wash away the unwanted tagging. If needed, dry the wall between applications. Note: Water temperatures above 100ºF will speed up removal, especially in difficult repairs, but you will require reapplication of OverCoat.

Evaluate OverCoat After Each Repair: Occasionally, OverCoat may need to be reapplied if a mural is often tagged or if the aerosols used contained harsh solvents. After each repair, check to see that OverCoat is still present by drying the surface and touching the wall. If the wall feels slick, consider applying 1-2 additional coats of OverCoat. If the wall feels waxy and velvety, then the coating is still present and no additional coats are needed.

Please Note: BuffOff is most effective on murals that are coated with OverCoat. If a mural is uncoated, it is likely that BuffOff will affect the original mural beneath the unwanted tagging. Always test before use.
