Osage Orange Wood Features: - A heavy, more substantial feel than most hardwood coasters. - Extreme strength and durability against rot. - Gives off a natural, stunning yellow glaze in its appearance. **Variation Size Note:** - The variation size is the shortest length of the coaster, and can be slightly above or below that number, rounded down or up to that variation's size. - For example, a ~3 inch coaster could be measured as small as 2.6 inches through its center or as large as 3.4" through its center. Individual Coaster Measurements: - We strive to ensure each 4pc set you receive is of consistent sizing and similar pattern, and from the same branch. - Length/Width: Varies based on the size option you choose. However, we do not recommend such use on porous surfaces. How Did This Get Made? We live on a farm in Central Missouri, a little over an hour outside of Kansas City. Around here, we have a number of Osage Orange Trees (also known as Hedgewood). They're amazingly durable and rarely rot, so we're able to use these trees' wood for great, durable drink coasters. 1. We start with a chainsaw, getting the long logs and branches of wood down into a workable size. 2. Determine the size and thickness of the coaster. 3. Each is carefully cut even (and flat) with the trusty Miter Saw. 4. Finish it off with a single coat of Tung Oil, enhancing the natural beauty of the wood. 5. Finally, following 12-24 hours of drying time, this beautiful coaster is ready for you.
