This cover design is based on Shigesato Itoi’s 1989 Famicom game MOTHER (EarthBound Beginnings in North America). The design matches the groundbreakingly simple original cover of the game, with a large golden logo over a red background. The design stood out compared to standard game boxes of its day, and its appeal has only grown over the years. The back of the cover is bright red with a simple, pared down design. It’s pressed with the logos of the Hobonichi Mother Project and Hobonichi.
