The foam is made up of a large number of nitrogen cells that are held within a polyethylene material. It is lightweight, completely odourless and, as it doesn’t absorb water, is buoyant. Being made of polyethylene it has exceptional chemical resistance to most oils, solvents, acids and alkalis. Closed cell foams are usually harder, firmer and tougher than open cell foams. They are also much less springy and are able to recover from repeated impacts with each cell acting like a balloon, allowing the foam to bounce back to its original shape. PE Foam can be easily shaped and cut. It can be thermoformed, saw and laser cut, and can be routed cleanly using CNC machinery.
