For me, wooden boxes, small or big, always bring to mind good experiences, because they have always intrigued me and aroused my curiosity about what they kept inside, what objects they "hid", and to whom they belonged, etc. etc. It is a small box all in treated wood and I think varnished, but very old and already very worn. It has a working key which allows it to be locked, so it can be used as a small safe or as a jewel case for example. But it can also be a simple decorative box to keep memories or personal objects. It has a rectangular shape and the inside is lined with thin paper with a very simple and stylized pattern. At the base it has four small wooden feet as well. In fact, it's a rather delicate box, with little weight and although it has a key, it doesn't seem to me to be very safe. Despite its treatment the wood is very worn from use and age, it has many stains, mainly on the lid and base but also on the sides (see photos). It is a box with the normal wear and tear of time and use and the wood is very dark. I present it as I found it, I just cleaned it and treated the wood. The wear is more visible in the corners, edges and wood joints, because you can see the top of the nails already dark and worn. Even inside, besides the paper being darkened and stained, there are flaws, parts of the paper that were torn and came out (see inside photos). The base has old dark stains. The lock on the inside is dark and rusty, but as I said it locks, the key is working very well, although the key is very dark from rust. But it is a very nice and interesting box to decorate and can store all kinds of objects, can even be used as a sewing box, or as I mentioned above, be used as a safe. Despite its wear and use, this box is in good vintage condition.
