acid free paper for storing bags?

Hi just wondering since so many people on TPF recommended to store bags in acid free paper, wonder what's the benefit of it and what happen if you used normal paper? I used a stuffing paper / stuffed paper for package and usually just put them inside the bag and now wondering if it's going to
