The Base
The ScoreLab, in its simplest configuration, reflects a high degree of precision. Any product that is of the highest quality begins with a firm and accurate foundation. We begin our foundation on a Waffle Grid. Each square within the Waffle Grid is perfectly positioned in alignment with all the other squares, thus creating equal parallel, perpendicular, and straight lines. The Waffle Grids will catch any shards of glass that may flake off the bottle.
Cutting-head Module
The Cutting Head Module is designed to hold the cutting head in the best position for scoring the glass. The cutting-head will stay perfectly straight when engaged for scoring. It is okay if the module tilts back slightly when pressing on the bottle to run the score. An Allen wrench is provided for replacing the cutting-head or for adjusting the angle. Please note also the alignment of the cutting wheel in relation to the bearings. It is the same.
Ball-bearing Module
Each of the ball-bearing modules are created to fit in perfect alignment with each other in the Waffle Grid. The ball-bearings are rubber-coated to protect the glass bottle from being scratched. Be sure to wipe the rubber off occasionally as glass shards may become stuck on them. You may do this with a toothbrush or cloth. The rubber coating also keeps the bottle from slipping. Sealed ball-bearings are used to keep any dirt, dust, or glass flakes out of contact with the actual bearings.
Abrasive Smoothing Stone
File down sharp edges after scoring by dipping the abrasive smoothing stone in water as it is Recommended to keep stone wet during application.
Safety is Our #1 Priority
Pyramex Safety Glasses
From the smallest sliver to the largest piece of broken glass, eye protection is a must! Please do not score any bottles without using proper eye protection. 1 pair of Pyramex safety glasses is included with The ScoreLab bottle cutter.
Upon breaking apart the glass bottle, you will want to smooth the rim of the inside and outside of where the score was ran. The abrasive smoothing stone should be wet when sanding the edges. We recommend dipping the stone in a cup of water, sand, dip, then sand until you are satisfied with the edge of the bottle where you scored.
