Anyone else found that the revell paint that comes with the models won't stick properly to the model? I'm going to try priming it, don't know if that's what you already have

Is it possible to make a model look like that but with regular paint and not airbrush? I used the revell aqua color a couple of tubes but my last project a tiger 1 look very dull and flat compared to the first 3 photos. Does a wash make a model look like the first 3
